Sarcoidosis Not Cancer

Today we found out that the PET scan showed no abnormality in the abdominal lymph nodes and that only the lymph nodes in the chest show any abnormality. This type of cancer when it spreads to the lymph system is known for starting in the abdomen--and then going to the chest. Our doctor had never seen a case where the chest only was affected, and suspects it might be sarcoidosis and not cancer. He consulted his partners and two of them had each had a patient with the same scenario, and it turned out to be sarcoidosis and not cancer. He said there's a 50/50 chance it's sarcoidosis over cancer, in his opinion, and recommended a lymph node sampling through mediastinoscopy. We go to a thoracic surgeon on Thursday and we hope to have this surgery as soon after that as possible. His opinion before he ever got the PET scan was that it was almost certainly cancer in the chest lymph nodes. But many of you prayed for us, and you know we were praying, and now we have this new hope. We are claiming sarcoidosis and have a very positive feeling about everything after the visit today. God is good. We will post the date of the surgery when we get that, and of course how the surgery goes.
